Default [Concept Idea] Gladiator Arena

This might be a little odd, in which case the idea can just be closed. Please read the entire thing before responding, though.

The idea is aimed towards PvP, to make it more fun and enjoyable to the masses that are "laid-back" and accumulate an average amount of Faction.

When AB was first released, the idea was innovative and curious to most. An emulated "Star Wars: Battlefront" was enjoyable (when they didn't have leeches). The addition of the Norn Arena also was a basis for this idea.

Main points:
  1. Different arenas and scenery.
  2. Maximum number of 32 people (Or more, if possible.).
  3. Free for all.
  4. "Call Your Shots!" (2 concepts. 1 deterent. 1 benefit.)
  5. Periodic resurrection.
  6. "The Glory of a Good Fight!"
  7. Fill-in spots always ready.

Number 1:
Pretty basic. You don't want to see the same thing every time you jump into an arena.

Number 2:
Similar to AB. A large quantity of randomly assorted individuals. The more, the merrier - in this case.

Number 3:
This would be similar to RA in that individuals will be randomly selected and put into different arenas. Once a battle has begun, it does not end (See Number 5 and Number 7.). Players can forge temporary "alliances" to help take down stronger players, but at the cost of Self-Damage (See Number 4).

Number 4 (Deterent):
"Call Your Shots!" will come into effect if two or more individuals target the same person at one time. The more people targeting a single target, the more damage is dealt to each individual (Save the target, of course.). This is to prevent people from "ganging up" on an single person for prolong periods of time.
[NOTE: AoE spells that do not target any single individual are not counted.]

Number 4 (Benefit):
"Call Your Shots!" will come into effect if two or more individuals target the same person at one time. The more people targeting a single target, the more "benefits" the target will gain. However, the effects would not be "randomly" placed on the target. Instead, a "ladder" system would give the target added benefits as more players begin to attack him/her.
Benefits could be:
Null Enemy Critical Hits
Increased Damage
Increased Speed/Evasion
Increased Health
Health Regeneration
Increased Armor

Number 5:
Periodic Resurrections will occur, similar to AB. When a player dies, a timer will appear at the top informing them of when resurrection will occur.

Number 6:
"The Glory of a Good Fight!" will be a simple status effect on everyone during their time in the Arena. DP will not effect anyone while this status is in effect. All individuals with this effect gain + Balthazar and Luxon/Kurzick Faction whenever they have made a kill - whether it be by their hand or by teaming up with another. When you die, for each kill you made while under the effects of this status effect, you gain a small bonus Faction.
[NOTE: The point of this status effect is to prevent leechers. Your "status effect" is literally your key to gaining Faction and not giving it to others that have not deserved it. By causing a set amount of damage to someone, your "status effect" acknowledges them as a point when they die.]

Number 7:
When a player tires of the battle, they can click the "Leave Arena" button in the Party Window. When a player has left, they are replaced with a new player who is waiting to battle. Other players still participating will have to be ready to handle the next random person to be flung into the Arena. Leaving the Arena does not inflict Dishonor on players.

Thank you for reading my Gladiator Arena idea. While some classes are a tad more "solo-powerful" than others (If you don't include seconday proffessions.), I think the ability to forge temporary alliances while having "Call Your Shots!" will balance it out, if done correctly.

EDIT: Additions made to "Call Your Shots!" Two ideas have now been listed.

Sounds fun, a GW free forall! only problem that i see is many classes are not able to solo as well as others... so you would rarely ever see a paragon per say who is based on helping the people around him.

I like everything but number 4. I think it'd be better if the player being ganged up on had some sort of defensive bonus instead or more likely to get criticals.

It seems silly to ask this but how would heal/prot monks, healing rits, and chant/shout paragons work in this arena? Would they be allowed to join as spectators and use their "abilities" to help their favorite gladiator?

As an alternative, wouldn't it be better if everyone could enter with the same skill set (maybe base it on class). If the skills and classes are balanced, that keep things fun and make it more casual friendly.

Very nice idea. I was comming up with a way to deter people from ganging up. But that works just as well... Maybe a defense and offense bonus? The more people hitting a single target, the more that target has in benefits.

I imagined something like a hybrid between the Norn Arena and AB, in which case a Healing/Prot Monk wouldn't work. You'd want to go Smiting or use your secondary proffession. If it could be worked out, though, that'd be shway.

I think Arena Skills is a very nice idea. Maybe different Arena Skills for each proffession, or the same for all proffessions.
Either way, nice idea!

I like the idea of this.

Although what I'd like even more would be the Dragon Arena put back in permanently; that was very, very fun.

Could be good idea. For SW Battlefront. But it has little purpose in GW.

FFA PvP will be in GW, where all classes will be self-sufficient, where each class will have 8 skills, all exactly the same as all other classes.

But for team based nature, yes, some classes don't make good solo fighters.

This has nothing to do with GW, it doesn't take into consideration anything GW is about, doesn't use GW mechanic, might as well play the Kilroy's brawler arena.

Very nice idea Felix, but all I can imagine is 34 cripshot rangers in an enclosed space. :/
